EFCC declares GEJ's finance coordinator, Ngozi Olojeme, wanted over $48m

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has declared wanted the Deputy Chairman, Finance Committee of the Goodluck Jonathan Presidential Campaign Organisation in 2015, Dr. Ngozi Olojeme, over a $48m fraud.
Olojeme has been accused of embezzling the said amount during her tenure as the Chairman of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund from 2009 to 2015.
She and some directors in the company allegedly siphoned billions of naira, including funds meant for the payment of allowances of its staff as well as compensation to contributors.
“It was discovered that the NSITF accounts in First Bank of Nigeria and other banks have witnessed a total turnover of over N62,358,401,927 between 2012 and 2015 from the Employee Compensation Scheme contributions. That out of the N62bn, the Federal Government contributed N13,600,000,000 while the sum of N48,758,401,927.80 was contributed by the private sector. That there were several payments to individuals and companies from the NSITF bank accounts for purported contracts or consultancy services. That some individuals and companies that received these payments, in turn, transferred part of the monies directly to the NSITF officials while others transferred huge sums to bureau de change operators who changed them to dollars. That through this process, Dr. Ngozi Olojeme, the then NSITF board chairman, has collected a total sum of $48,485,127 from Mr. Chuka Eze (her account officer at FBN), which cash he collected on her behalf being the dollar equivalent of monies paid to BDCs by NSITF contractors. That she has refused to honour invitation and all efforts to get her to come and tell her own side of the story have proved abortive hence her arrest warrant has been obtained from court. We ask for the EFCC chairman’s approval to declare the suspect wanted.”
The spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, said Olojeme has been declared wanted and called on Nigerians to provide useful information that could lead to her arrest.
“Yes, she has been declared wanted. Members of the public are advised to give us information that would lead to her arrest” he said

Cambodia court reduces sentence of Nigerian man jailed for fraud

A 37-year-old Nigerian convicted of fraud had his two-year prison sentence upheld, but half was suspended, at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday, June 15. Chimere Meze was convicted of fraud and sentenced to two years imprisonment in absentia in February. He was arrested in April and requested a re-trial.
Judge Ros Piseth said Mr Meze scammed a Cambodian woman out of $300 in 2016 by informing her she’d won a grand prize but first had to pay him $300 via Wing to collect the reward.
“Because he often phoned to disturb the victim and ask for $300 from her, she filed a complaint against him to police,” said Judge Piseth. “Police prepared a plot to arrest him.”
Mr Meze’s accomplices, Nigerian tourist Uchechukwu Vincent, 37, and his Cambodian girlfriend Sarim Kunthea, 27, were also imprisoned for six months to a year during the initial February trial. Judge Piseth recommended Mr Meze appeal the judgment within 30 days if he did not accept the conviction.

Miraculous story of a 4yr old girl caught by a neighbor after her desperate mother threw her off the burning Grenfell Tower to save her life

One can only imagine the fear and hopelessness felt by those stuck in the Grenfell Tower as a raging fire licked through the building from the ground up, trapping families, including little children. As the fire raged and salvation seemed even more impossible, a desperate mother took a very risky decision to save her daughter by throwing her out of their apartment on the fifth floor.
The distance from the fifth floor to the ground was about 50ft but the mother, seeing no other way, threw her 4-year-old daughter down, not sure whether someone would catch her or not, but she was willing to try all the same.
By some stroke of luck, a heroic neighbour saw the child falling as though from the sky and quickly caught her. The neighbour has been named simply as Pat. He too seemed shaken from the incident as he tucked the child into his chest and crashed down under a tree to take shelter from falling debris.
The little girl can be seen in a photo with her eyes closed while her saviour looked up at the fire above in horror. Sadly, it is believed that her mother died in the fire which claimed several lives. The little girl was treated by paramedics at the scene and Pat was taken to a hospital.
20-year-old Kadelia Woods, a resident, said:
"The mum had the little girl's head wrapped in a towel and was holding her out of the window and was screaming for help. The fire was raging like crazy. It was about 2 a.m. and the flat was filled with smoke. Pat was calling: 'Drop her, I'll catch her'.
The mum was screaming: 'No, no, I can't!' Pat kept reassuring her and then the girl dropped. Everyone's hearts stopped but Pat managed to catch her like a rugby ball tucked into his chest."
Samira Lamrani, an eyewitness at the scene, said she saw a man run forward to catch the child after a woman on the ninth or 10th floor indicated she wanted to drop it out of harm's way.
She said:
"A woman was gesturing like she was about to throw her baby, if somebody could catch her baby. And somebody did and a member of the public, a gentleman, ran forward and managed to grab the baby."
Pat's heroic catch evoked great emotion in everyone who heard about it and saw the photo. His is one of many acts of great heroism that have emerged in the aftermath of the worst fire in Britain for decades.

Kenyan Govt destroys N1M worth of sex toys shipped in for female University students

Following the high rate of masturbation in East Africa, female university students in Kenya will have to seek for another means to satisfy themselves, after the Kenya Revenue Authority intercepted and destroyed sex toys worth around Ksh300,000 (N1m) on Wednesday.
The sex toys were set ablaze after the authorities seized the shipped goods at Eldoret International Airport on Wednesday.
According to the Kenya Revenue Authority’s North Rift coordinator, Florence Otori, she said the self-pleasure toys were meant for sale to women and female university students in the Rift Valley region.
“It is unfortunate and disheartening to see businessmen and businesswomen import such gadgets into the country and resort to selling them in towns in Rift Valley. As KRA, we cannot allow the furthering of moral decadence by greedy businessmen and businesswomen who are only out to make money, forgetting the negative impact such gadgets can have on children, who may be tempted to try them out. We won’t allow the importation of such gadgets into the country,” said Ms. Otori.
“It is shocking that women, who we look up to in society, are the ones buying such gadgets. Women should be epitomes of moral direction in society,” she added.
The KRA North Rift boss said other items destroyed included cigarettes, medicines, pornographic material and fake seeds.
“Some of the goods we destroyed are very harmful to the health…the public must be made aware,” she said.

Did Obama accidentally reveal the gender of Jay Z and Beyonce's twins?

Former US president Barack Obama, may have accidentally revealed the gender of Jay Z and Beyonce's twins while congratulating Jay Z for being inducted into the songwriters hall of fame.
Obama said:
“I like to think Mr. Carter and I understand each other. Nobody who met us when we were younger men would have expected us to be where we are today”.
Then he went ahead and listed the similarities between himself and Jay Z saying:
"We both have wives who are significantly more popular than we are… Like all of you, I am a fan, and I’ve been listening to Jay since I was a young and hungry state senator.”
"Jay and I are also fools for our daughters. Although, he's going to have me beat once those twins show up."
We all know Barack Obama has 2 daughters, so if Jay Z is going to have him beat once the twins show up, that means the Carters are having twin girls. Right?

Super Falcons coach Florence Omagbemi's teenage son drowns in swimming pool

15-year-old son of Super Falcons coach, Florence Omagbemi and his friend were found dead two days after they were declared missing. Samson Omagbemi and his classmate, Darlington Taire drowned in a swimming pool at Golden Tulip Hotel (Warri Airport Hotel ) in Effurun, Uvwie Council Area of Delta State, where they had gone to swim on Monday, June 12th, to celebrate the end of Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination.
The deceased, who had earlier been declared missing by both families, were allegedly found floating in the swimming pool of the hotel on Wednesday, June 14.
The victims were pupils of Challenge International School in Kolokolo , Enerhen, also in Uvwie Council Area of the state, but were transferred to take their examinations at Continental International School , where one of their teachers identified as Robinson allegedly collected N500 from each pupils to swim at the hotel, PUNCH reports.
The teacher is said to be on the run.
On learning that the deceased went to swim at the hotel, their family members reportedly rushed to the place on Monday night in search of the boys but could not find them. They were informed by hotel workers that the children had gone home.
Omagbemi's brother, Henry Omagbemi, who confirmed the sad incident, said they suspected foul play in the death of their son. He has called called on the Inspector- General of Police to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to book.
"We went to the mortuary and saw the two pupils in the mortuary. They didn’t look like people who had drowned in the pool because their mouths and faces were bleeding. But the legs were intact . If somebody drowns in a pool , you will see swollen stuff but there was nothing like that.
"We want justice to be done . It looks mysterious to us . We want justice to be done . The truth should be told . Covering somebody’s corpse is something else . Taking somebody’s corpse to the mortuary without the knowledge of his people looks suspicious."
On his part, Darlington ’s father, Morrison Taire said that the management of the hotel was hiding something over the death of the pupils.
He also questioned why his son was taken to the hotel for swimming without his permission and called on the ministry of education and security agencies to unravel what killed his son and his classmate.
A source said the pool attendant and two classmates of the deceased, who took their footwear to their parents on Monday night , had been arrested by the police.
The state Police Commissioner, Mr Zanna Ibrahim, who confirmed the incident said:
"On 14 /6/ 2017 about 1000hrs one Mr . Collins Nwose, the General Manager of Golden Tulip Hotel , Effurun, reported that at about 0530hrs two male corpses were found floating in the hotel ’s swimming pool. However, the two pupils, Muntari Sidi and Feargod Edafe, who accompanied the late pupils to the said swimming pool and the swimming pool attendant, have been arrested"

South African communities give Nigerians quit notice

The Nigerian Union in South Africa says Nigerians living in two South African communities have been ordered by those communities to leave their land. This was made known by Ikechukwu Anyene, the President of the Union.
Ayene said the Kuruman community in Northern Cape Province gave Nigerians until Thursday to leave the place while the Klaafontein community, Extension 5, Johannesburg, took a more subtle approach and directed landlords not to renew the rent of Nigerians in the area. He said the South African's grouse with Nigerians is that they believe they are responsible for some social vices like illicit drug trade and prostitution.
Anyene further said a Ugandan man raped a girl in Kwazulu Natal Province but was described in the media as a Nigerian.
He said to the News Agency of Nigeria:
“The Nigeria union held series of meetings with the affected communities as well as police and local authorities on the recent threats to Nigerians. We have also written reports on these incidents and sent to the Nigerian Mission and the South African police. We recommended interventions before the June 16 deadline to the mission and we are waiting for their response. The union is worried that any incident involving non -South Africans are attributed to Nigerians. The union believes that the Early Warning Unit set up by Nigerian and South African governments has not been effective. We are yet to have any meeting since the ministers of the two countries met. Since then, there have been sustained media propaganda against our people."
