My take on the criticisms against the Tuface protest - Ify Ezinwa writes

Popular On air Personel and Content Writter Ezinwa Sandra Ify Has Decided to stand up to her feet to support the Protest which is being pulled by legendary 2baba, in a peice of article shared on her social media platform she express her take on this protest.

 

In the words of Fela Anikulapo kuti,Music is the weapon.But when Music fails to get to the target audience for some reasons which primarily could be because of the genre of music or the conveyed messages getting beclouded by the melodious tone of a musical piece,it is absolutely not out of place for a "mere musician" as some people put it to carry out much more serious demonstrations like the Tuface protest to be carried out on the 6th of February 2017 at the National stadium surulere Lagos.

 

Apparently,there has been criticisms,really Unconstructive ones against the movement; so many but I found one really by a Nigerian professor;he said "you're a bloody illiterate,You had sex with all manners of girls without using condoms.You impregnated them and made babies all over the place;now you want to lead protest against the government because of lack of governance.Have you governed your own personal life?Charity they say begins at home,Nonsense" We seem to Forget,Fela Kuti,the Nigerian multi-instrumentalist,musician,pioneer of the Afro beat music genre,human right activist and political maverick,the Man with 27 wives;who came from prison and divorced the 12 that were still with him with countless numbers of children;A man seen today as a hero and celebrated till date with a shrine built in his memory which serves as the host location of the annual felabration festival.Now,I do not intend to compare the life of Fela to that of Tuface but I know that people with common sense can tell that if the moderacy of a person's sexual life is truly a yardstick for measuring how much sense a person makes as our Professor claims,one who can listen & support to Fela Kuti's movement would support even more to Tuface Idibia's! We live in a country whose media is immensely influenced by politics.

 

Today,news reflects the ideological biases of the journalists and those who are not in support of the present government are vilified just like Governor Fayose;which makes only the brave hearted to stand and speak out while the sycophants who obviously have one or two to gain and the chicken-hearted smile and suffer hoping for the change that will never come!Everyone has their own role to play;it's either you play the brave hearted or the chicken hearted and ofcourse the sycophants too,it is yours to decide but what's unfair and foolish to do is to condemn and even try to go as far as boycotting the plans of brave hearted as Bovi the comedian tweeted. To people who perceive this movement as a publicity stunt,To the people who think Tuface is a tool used by the PDP and to the people who are amazed at his "supposed" sudden interest in politics,I refer you to a single he released in 2014 "vote and not fight"(election no be war) with this,you can tell that he's always indeed got the interest of the masses at heart as well as righting the wrongs through music!Oh yes,I bet you never heard the song cos we all know the kind of Musics that makes a Hit in the Industry of today! It is 2017,the situation has gone past Music as a weapon.It is time we stood our ground firmly for indeed,nothing is getting better and just like Tuface Idibia said "We have been poor and desperate "This truly isn't the change we voted for However,there is indeed no cause for alarm as it is a peaceful demonstration. Stand up Nigeria! 🇳🇬 Stand up for the real change! Stand up!

Harrysong deletes Alter-Plate information from his social media accounts, replaces it with Five Star

A few minutes ago, Harrysong tweeted a stylish apology when he called Five Star Music his family.

Now, he's gone ahead to delete all information related to his newly created 'Alter Plate' record label from all his social media accounts and he replaced it with Five Star Music details.

There's still no official statement for Five Star Music or Harrysong at the moment.

Update on 3 missing Abuja friends: Family denies reports of $300k ransom

Family members of the three missing Abuja friends, Veronica Otobo, Bisola Mohammed and Damilola Oribuyaku, have denied reports by a Facebook user, Alhaja Adeola Agoro, that the kidnappers of the missing friends have reached out to them and are demanding $300,000 ransom.

The brother of the missing ladies was questioned, Veronica Otogo, this morning and he stated categorically that the report is false. He added that investigations by the police is ongoing and that the kidnappers are yet to contact them.

"There is no update yet. Nobody has reached out or called my family. The police are working seriously and I think they want to be discrete with information sharing". He said the phones of the girls are still switched off.

Also speaking, Jumoke, the sister to Damilola Oribuyaku, the young man who was kidnapped with the ladies, say the reported $300,000 ransom is false.

"The story is false. I don't know where they are getting their information from. It is false. The kidnappers have not made contacts yet. I was so appalled when I saw the story online. I reached out to the woman on Facebook to take the story down that it is false. No member of my family knows this woman and we have been telling her to take down this story. At leasts he should have called first before posting the rubbish she posted. Right now, what she posted is a jeopardy to ongoing investigations by the police"she said

Her brother, Bolaji, has also gone on twitter to discredit the false report.

Photos: Nigerian soldier sentenced to 7 years imprisonment for manslaughter

The General Court Marshal (GCM) of 7 Division sitting in Maiduguri, Borno State has sentenced a serving soldier to seven (7) years imprisonment for manslaughter for shooting and killing one Mr. Umar Alkali within the popular Monday Market in Maiduguri metropolis on 23 December 2015.

The soldier (name withheld) was found guilty of manslaughter punishable under Section (105) of the Armed Forces Act CAP A20 of the Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004.


The soldier's plea that he acted in self defence, that the deceased assaulted and tried to wrestle his rifle from him before he shot and killed him to save his life and that of his compatriots was set aside on the ground of use of disproportionate force.

While dismissing the initial charge of murder leveled against the soldier the GCM upheld the charge of manslaughter.

The President of the Court, Brigadier General Olusegun Adeniyi while delivering the verdict gave a detailed account of all the proceedings and relevant laws that guided the court at arriving at its decision.

Another soldier (name withheld) was also found guilty of one count charge of desertion punishable under section 60 of the Act. He was sentenced to 14 months imprisonment.

It will be recalled that the Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu in August 2016 inaugurated a General Court Marshal with the mandate of dealing with matters that may arise from activities of troops within the Division's area of responsibility and to ensure that troops work within the framework of their rules of engagement.

While reading the rulings of the court, the President of GCM, Brigadier General Adeniyi admonished officers and soldiers to always maintain high level of discipline, respect for human rights and strict adherence to rules of engagement and other laws guiding their conducts. He maintained that Nigerian military is known for discipline.
