'I did not do any deal with PDP for Ekweremadu to become Deputy Senate President' - Saraki says
Some Nigerians believed that Saraki had a deal with PDP that if the PDP members voted him into power, one of their members would emerge as deputy. For political arrangement, this is incorrect as this is an APC government that is expected to have all their party members in all positions of power.
While answering questions from one of his followers this morning, Saraki denied claims of having a deal with PDP to ensure Ike Ekweremadu emerged Deputy Senate President. According to him, some of the APC members who were supposed to vote during the senate election, decided to be somewhere else when the election was taken place. Ekweremadu defeated Ali Ndume of the APC to emerge the 8th Deputy Senate President. See his tweet replies

The Primary School I attended were Gloryville and Prime Day Spring Nursery and Primary School, then in Onike and now in Odunfa. Gradually I saw our community deteriorate, many of my age mates getting pregnant before graduation, many dropping out of school due to extreme poverty . I had expected that things will improve but regular interaction with our community members have shown that these challenges remain” He said.
“I am burdened that if we do not act and do more, the next generation will miss out on the opportunities that our community gave me when I was growing up. For a young man with a lot of dreams and impact, Lagos Mainland is not where it should be.
In August 2016, Dayo trained over 7000 mainlanders in vocational skills for 3 weeks free of charge. That was not the first time, in 2007, without any political ambition and as a student, Dayo travelled to Nigeria to organise a 6 weeks free summer school for mainland youth in Ebute Metta.
Dayo Israel is an Advisor to Governments, International Development Specialist, and Preacher. He is also a globally recognized personality with over 15years of professional experience in international development having worked with organisations such as The United Nations, British Council, Save the Children UK, UNICEF, in various capacities. He was selected by the United Nations to represent all delegates to the UN General Assembly Special Session on Children on a special CNN Live Interview in 2002. He was specially invited by Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh to a private reception at Buckingham palace as a result of his contribution to Africa Diaspora Development, the only ever recipient of the Young PEWA (Person Earnestly Working for Africa) Award at the office of the Mayor of London. He was also invited by the Obama Administration to the White House President’s Forum for Young African Leaders in Washington DC and an Alumnus of the US State Department International Visitors Leadership Program that has produced over 400 Heads of Government globally.
Aside procuring over 20 Jamb forms for student this year, Dayo is also offering a 5 weeks free jamb lesson to Mainland students. According to him “Its not enough to offer them jamb form, we must get them into University by empowering them with the knowledge to pass the exam”.
A former student leader, Dayo was the First African to be elected a Student Council Chair at London Metropolitan University and served on the University’s Academic Board with the Vice Chancellor, representing over 30, 000 students on the board. He was also a member of the Research and Development Committee of the University with the Deputy Vice Chancellor during his Post Graduate days.
Dayo pioneered a lot of advocacy towards the enactment of the Child Rights Act and Juvenile Justice Framework in Nigeria. At 16, He was appointed the Chairman of the Presidential Summit of Nigerian Children after leading the Nigerian Children delegation to the United Nations Special Session on Children in New York.

I will also tackle the poverty and unemployment crisis that rocks Lagos Mainland; we need to take pragmatic action to end poverty and promote entrepreneurship in Mainland”, He said.
Dayo recently organised a Mega One Mainland Peace Concert in Ebute Metta on Easter Monday which featured Majek Fashek, Jaywon, Mike Abdul, Monique, Wole Oni, Ibitayo, Doris Simeon, Femi Branch and more.
Dayo was elected into the Nigerian Children’s Parliament at the age of 14 and rose to the position of the Deputy Senate President of the National Children’s Parliament until His retirement . After serving as One Day Commissioner for Information in Lagos State , He was privileged to have received scholarship from the then Governor of His State Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to study Law at London Metropolitan University.
Dayo sponsored the renovation (face-lifting) of the APC Party Secretariat in Lagos Mainland LG. He said “the Secretariat represents the image of our great party and must continue to be befitting of a party that will transform the Local Government, the State and our great Country.

“I will make Mainland safer and more secure, with a renewed focus on neighbourhood policing, action to tackle the spread of hooliganism, and fighting for the resources our police and fire services need. In doing so, I will keep the LMLG local government tax precept down, as far as possible. With money so hard to have for so many Mainlanders, my promise is to keep council levy as low as possible without risking public service. Above all we will make sure our Local Government Secretariat listens to Mainlanders and involves them more directly in the decisions that affect our city. I’ve got the experience, values and vision to put Mainland back on the right track”. He said.

40yr old mountain climber, Ueli Steck dies during training at Everest
The 40-year-old died when he slipped from a slope and fell into a crevasse at around 6,600 meters on Mount Nuptse.
His body has been recovered and airlifted to Lukla, where the nearest airport to Mount Everest is located, Dinesh Bhattarai, of the Nepal Tourism Department said.
Mingma Sherpa, an official with expedition organizer Seven Summit Treks said, the "Swiss Machine" as he's fondly called was acclimatizing himself as he planned to ascend 8,850-meter Mount Everest and Mount Lhotse next month.

Led by the Audio-Visual Rights Society of Nigeria (AVRS), a company approved by the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) as a Collective Management Organization (CMO) for Cinematograph Films in Nigeria, the delegation which was received by the Chairman of Fancy and Furniture section of the market, Mr. Emeka Mozoba, include Chairman of AVRS, Mr. Bond Emeruwa, actress and Guest Speaker at the event, Hilda Dokubo, Chairman of Film and Video Producers/Marketers Association of Nigeria (FVPMAN), Emeka Aduah, Secretary of Yoruba Video Film Marketers Association of Nigeria (YVFMAN), Tunji Adetola, Aina Kushoro, Lilian Amah- Aluko, Fidelis Duker, Nobert Ajaegbu, Okey Ogunjiofor, Emma Isikaku and Paul Okoli among others.
“So if you ask me, what is the property that has brought us here today? In my hand is a CD; it is a property. That is because it belongs to somebody, it is someone’s investment. It is somebody’s life and wealth. It can lead to someone being alive or killed,” she said.
“We are all looking for international partners and treaties, so for those who pirate our work, they will kill those treaties and investment. So you are keeping partners away from us.
“This market is big enough to accommodate all of us, if we all agree to work together. I will tell you how this stealing works; because all of you will say you do not pirate.
“When you buy a copy and go and duplicate and give it to the boys who push them around in wheel barrows for sale, you are a thief. You are killing people,” she declared.
Chairman of Fancy and Furniture section, Mr. Emeka Mozoba, who admitted that piracy activities exist in the market, promised “to work hand in hand with the government, NCC, AVRS and other anti-piracy regulatory bodies to fight piracy in Nigeria.”
Earlier, the AVRS boss emphasized on the theme of the event for 2017: ‘Innovation – Improving Lives’, noting that, for him, “the greatest innovation of recent times remains Nollywood. “A gentle fusion of technology and the African art of storytelling - making it possible for a simple campfire story to be seen and heard across nations - informing, educating, fostering unity, peace, love and most of all, entertaining.”
According to Emeruwa, filmmakers will soon have cause to smile, as their intellectual rights are being enforced for relevant returns.
“This is an exercise that we have been pursuing vigorously and we promise that soon, filmmakers will have cause to smile. We have engaged with hotels, broadcast organizations and other users of your works and the response has been very encouraging. We implore other users of cinematography works to ensure they are licensed as we are set to use all means within our power to enforce our rights. The lives of our filmmakers must be improved,” he said.
He urged the Federal Government to speed up the process of implementation of the Copyright Levy (on Materials) order 2012 which he said was signed and left unimplemented since 2012 to the detriment of Nigeria’s creative economy.
Photos: Emir of Kano apologises to Governor Ganduje
The Emir had earlier tendered an apology at a meeting organised by six Northern governors at the Government House in Kaduna on Friday night, to save him from imminent deposition.
The meeting was attended by Governors Kashim Shettima of Borno, Nasir El-Rufai, Aminu Masari of Katsina State, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto and Abubakar Bello of Niger State.
The Emir further pleaded for pardon over the mischievous assertions made on several occasion condemning the projects of the state government.
It will be recalled that the monarch while speaking at an event on April 5th, in Kaduna, faulted the governor's premier project, the $1.85 million light rail project, saying it was a misplacement of priority.
The emir admitted his mistakes and apologised to Ganduje, saying:
"I am still learning. But I have learnt from this mistake. I apologised to you my governor for the embarrassment and inconvenience my remarks might have caused you"
In his response, Ganduje said he has personally forgiven him but would never stop the ongoing probe of the emirate's accounts by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.
