Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, says he will run for president in 2019. Fayose disclosed this when he spoke with journalists in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital on Friday. He said:
"I have defeated two incumbent governors in two different attempts. So, defeating the All Progressives Congress in the coming presidential election would be a walkover. Many did not believe that I can come back as governor of Ekiti State after eight years. I don’t know how God did it. This time, I am going to the presidency. God is taking me there but I don’t know how. I have penchant for taking powers; that one in Buhari’s hand. I would take it. I’m going straight to that Villa. I’m the next president. I want to be the next president of Nigeria. My own won’t be this change that has brought nothing. We are going to represent the people well and tell them the truth" he said.

Photos: INTERPOL detain 153 people suspected of using airline tickets purchased with stolen, fake credit cards
An international operation by INTERPOL targeting airline fraudsters has resulted in the detention of 153 individuals suspected of using tickets purchased with stolen, compromised or fake credit card details. Involving 64 countries, during the sixth Global Airport Action Days from 6 to 8 June, 84 airlines and eight online travel agencies worked with law enforcement officers to carry out operational actions in 230 airports across the world.
A total of 312 suspicious transactions were reported which led to 153 people being detained, denied boarding, questioned by police and charged. A number of investigations are ongoing.
New modi operandi were also identified with organized crime networks attempting to gain access to transit areas in airports in order to facilitate illegal immigration and drug trafficking.
Representatives from airlines, online travel agencies, payment card companies, Perseuss – the global travel industry’s fraud review platform – and the International Air Transport Association (IATA), provided additional information on suspicious transactions during the operation.
INTERPOL Secretary General Jürgen Stock said: “This type of fraud poses significant security risks by potentially enabling criminals and terrorists to travel anonymously. INTERPOL will continue to support these types of global operations, which also show the value of cooperation between the public and private sectors.”
“Airline ticket fraud is borderless by nature. Effective international public-private cooperation and mutual assistance within the law enforcement environment make a distinctive contribution to our fight against this type of crime. Europol is fully committed to playing a leading part in this work through its unique capabilities,” said Rob Wainwright, Europol’s Executive Director.
The European Border and Coast Guard Agency, Frontex, deployed 27 officers to 18 airports to support this operation, assisting with detecting identity fraud, fake documents and illegal immigration. Eurojust also assisted throughout the action days.
Aleks Popovich, IATA’s Senior Vice President, Financial and Distribution Services, said:
"Fraud against the airline industry remains a serious issue and IATA will continue to be at the forefront of efforts through its Industry Fraud Prevention strategy and programme of activities. Global Days of Action tackling ticket fraud have become an extremely important part of these efforts.”
The operation was coordinated from operational centres at Europol in the Netherlands, the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation in Singapore, and Ameripol in Bogota. It was also supported by UNODC (AIRCOP for Africa), Canadian and US law enforcement agencies.
Airline ticket fraud
It is estimated that the fraudulent online purchases of flight tickets result in losses to the airline industry of up to USD 1 billion per year. These online transactions are highly lucrative for organized crime and often facilitate more serious criminal activities including illegal immigration, trafficking in human beings, drug smuggling and terrorism.
Crime-as-a-Service - a recent trend in all forms of serious organized crime - has now appeared in the travel sector. Law enforcement has targeted fake online travel agencies, which specialize in purchasing airline tickets with stolen or fake credit card details for other criminals, providing them with a service.
For example, one criminal enterprise offered financial services, fraudulently purchased tickets and fake documents. During the action, several bookings for different destinations were linked to the same criminal organization.
Passengers should take care when purchasing airline tickets online and be suspicious about deals which are too good to be true.

Rescued Boko Haram bride flees home to return to Sambisa forest
A young woman rescued from Boko Haram terrorists by the Nigerian army has fled her home in Maiduguri to go back in search of her husband who is a Boko Haram commander. 25-year-old Aisha was abducted by Boko Haram terrorists and taken to Sambisa forest where she remained for 3 years.
During the period of her captivity, Aisha was married to one of the top terrorists called Mamman Nur. She conceived a son fathered by her Boko Haram husband before she was eventually rescued alongside some other young women and children during an army raid in Sambisa forest last year. Upon their return, Aisha and the others were kept in a state safe house during which they were put through a nine-month deradicalisation programme. She returned home to her family in February this year.
However, Aisha left her home in Maiduguri last month to return to the Boko Haram stronghold. Aisha's younger sister, Yerima, said her sister took with her the baby boy fathered by the Boko Haram commander and a few clothes to return to Sambisa. During a phone interview with the Thomas Reuters Foundation, Yerima said her sister had received a phone call prior to her disappearnce from a woman who had also been in the deradicalisation programme. The woman reportedly told her that she had returned to the Sambisa forest so Aisha followed suit.
Aisha had earlier spoken about her life in Sambisa forest and revealed that she lived like a queen and had other kidnapped girls serving as her slave and meeting her every need because she was the wife of the commander. She also disclosed that a number of the Boko Haram male fighters regarded her with respect and couldn't look her in the eye because of her husband's position.
Ever since Aisha's disappearance, her phone number has been switched off and she's remained unreachable. Fatima Akilu, a psychologist and head of the Neem Foundation, an anti-extremism group which ran the state-backed programme, said she had heard that some of the women who were under her care, including Aisha, had gone back to Boko Haram.

"Policing and punishing adult women for what they choose to do with their bodies in 2017 is appalling archaic misogyny! When are patriarchs going to let women be? If you feel so proper, manly, moral and respectable, please sew all women long opaque sacks to wear in public and save your loins from erecting in response to our exposed raw red-hot bodies.
Imagine the whole Office of the Dean of Students at Makerere University threatening to penalise an adult student for her dress worn to a finalists' party! This followed an inquiry launched by the police station on the university campus. Simon Lokodo's ambiguous Anti-Pornography Act is spreading its poison into free society.
I summon all the goddesses that exist to protect femininity and freedom of (bodily) expression. Women in Uganda need deliverance from the ugly chains of these controlling misogynists! Fuck patriarchy at Makerere University. Why shame and punish an adult for how she chooses to dress at a party."

In India, Facebook and WhatsApp group Admins could go to jail for offensive posts
According to a joint order issued by the district magistrate of Varanasi and the city’s police chief, offensive posts such as rumours or fake new circulated through WhatsApp or Facebook groups can land the group admin in jail.
Varanasi DM Yogeshwar Ram Mishra and SP Nitin Tiwari recently issued a joint order that said an FIR (first investigation report) can be filed against a group administrator if factually incorrect, rumour or misleading information is circulated on his/her social media group.
The order partly reads, “there are several groups on social media which are named on news groups and also groups with other names which are propagating news and information which is not authentic. These are being forwarded without cross-checking”.
The order stated social media group administrators should be ready to bear the responsibility and ownership of the groups. The administrator must include only those members who are personally known to him or her. If any statement is made by a group member which is fake, can cause religious disharmony, or rumour, the group admin must deny it on the group and remove the member from the group.
“In the event of inaction from the group admin, he or she will be considered guilty and action will be taken against the group admin,” the order stated.
Such a post must also be reported to the nearest police station so that action can be taken against the member under the law. A case under cyber crime law, Information Technology Act and Indian Penal Code will be filed in case of violation of these guidelines. The order also made it clear that orders of Supreme Court and various high courts will be considered while initiating action. “While freedom of expression on social media is important, it also comes with a responsibility,” the order said.
