Saraki denies reports that he is planning to use oil marketers to frustrate acting President Yemi Osinbajo

Senate President Bukola Saraki, has denied reports by Sahara Reporters that he is planning to destabilize the government under Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, by planning with oil marketers to stop the supply of fuel, thereby creating fuel scarcity.
Reacting via his official twitter handle, Saraki said this allegation is 'pure and unadulterated fake news'.

Photos: Police uncovers large consignment of fake shoe polish worth N30m in Onitsha

The Anambra State Police Command has busted an underground warehouse in Onitsha stocked with a large consignment of suspected fake shoe polish worth about 30 million Naira.
The underground warehouse located at a 3-storey Plaza along Marine modern market, Onitsha built into the River Niger, is allegedly owned by one Mr Ebube who according to the Police is still at large.
The adulterated products were craftily packed in unidentified cartons on the outside with the original carton hidden on the inside.
Addressing newsmen after the raid, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Garba Umar, explained that the the raid followed a formal complaint lodged by the holder of the franchise for the product, adding that it was an eye opener for the command on the illegalities going in major markets across the state.
He further said the discovery that the adulterated products may have been brought in through the River Niger, has brought to the fore, the need for the Police to beef up its Marine arm and partner better with the Nigerian Navy to improve security on the waterways.
CP Umar appealed to the general public to support the war against fake products by volunteering credible information that will lead to the busting of such illegal operations, assuring that the Police will follow through investigations to ensure that the culprit is brought to book.
The Holder of the franchise for the product, Chief Sam Anyanwutaku who bemoaned the huge damage which the activities of such illegal manufacturers do to their businesses, said upon receiving intelligence on his operations, he had immediately reported to the Police, expressing gratitude to the State Police Command for their prompt response.
The Chairman of the Market, Mr Louis Onyeabo who absolved the market union of any complicity in the crime, stated clearly that the market deals only on clothing materials and has a standing policy against adulterated products.
The confiscated products were later taken to the State Police Headquarters in Awka as exhibits while investigations continue.

Update: Two children declared missing in Ikorodu found in an orphanage

Ten year old Ridwan Adeleke and his sister Nimata,7, have been found days after they were declared missing in the Eyita area of Ikorodu.

The children who came for Itunu Awe festival from Cotonou, left home Saturday evening and didn't return.

According to Awwal Al Masdary, they were picked up at a motherless babies home in Mushin this morning.

Suspected Fulani herdsmen yesterday attacked Rev Peter Audu of ECWA Church in Aban in Numana Chiefdom of Sanga LGA in Kaduna state. Facebook user, Nad Kason who shared the report of the fresh attack online wrote
"This blood sucking demons are at it again. Rev Peter Audu of ECWA Church, Aban in Numana Chiefdom of Sanga LGA [Abt 50 yrs of age] was attacked on his farm at about 5pm today by Fulani herdsmen.
He was left supposedly dead with deep matchete cuts on his head. He is right now at the general hosp in Gwantu receiving treatment. There is God".

Governor Amosun's daughter and Abike Dabiri's son to wed in Abeokuta this Saturday..

This Saturday, music legends, King Sunny Ade and Kwam 1 will be on bandstand as Oladipo Dabiri, son of Abike Dabiri Erewa and Ayomide Amosun, the daughter of Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun get married in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The bride-to-be was called to the Nigerian Bar in December 2015 while Dipo graduated from the University of Bristol and relocated to Nigeria recently.
According to reports, Acting President Osibanjo and over 15 state governors are expected to attend the nuptials.

Photos: UNIOSUN students embark on protest over the death of an undergraduate

Angry students of the Osun State University have taken over the streets of Osogbo in protest against the alleged ritual killing of an undergraduate.
The students had on Tuesday burnt down a house close to where the remains of Sonibare Timileyin, a 400 level Microbiology student was discovered.

Resuming their demonstration on Wednesday morning, the angry students, dressed in black were said to have marched from their school campus at Oke Baale, to the Palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo, and made a stop at the Olaiya roundabout where a bonfire was made.
The students who reportedly came out in thousands were seen destroying everything they came across, chasing people with sticks and iron materials.
Channels TV reported that commercial and vehicular activities in the town have been grounded and there is a significant amount of tension in the air.
The suspects responsible for the gruesome act, Sakariyau Abdulrafiu (19), Ibrahim Ayuba (24) and Yusuf Aliu (18), have been arrested and they have all confessed to killing Timileyin whose head they were planning to use for money ritual.

Vincent Enyeama and 10 other players sacked by new Lille coach, Marcelo Bielsa

Marcelo Bielsa, the new coach of French Football club, Lille has told former Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and 10 other players that they are no longer needed by the club.
After being appointed by the club's new owner, Gerard Lopez, on a two-year deal in May, Bielsa immediately set about reshaping the squad that finished 11th in the French Ligue 1 last season.
While the former Argentina, Chile and Marseille boss has added to the players at his disposal, he also informed a number of long-serving squad members not to report for preseason training on June 19, 2017.
Some of the affect players include Zambia’s Stoppila Sunzu, Tunisia’s Naim Sliti, Montenegro international Marko Basa, France international Marvin Martin and Ivory Coast’s Junior Tallo saying they are not part of his plans.

'I went into robbery to finance the launch of my gospel album' - Suspect

A self-acclaimed gospel musician who was arrested by the Ogun police for armed robbery has revealed why he committed the crime.
The suspect, Nurudeen Ogundairo was on Tuesday paraded alongside 36 others arrested for various crimes at Eleweran Police Headquarters in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
According to the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Ilyasu, a team of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS, arrested Mr. Ogundairo and his alleged accomplices at their hideout at Joju in Ota
Speaking to Premium Times, Ogundairo who seem to be the leader of the gang said that he took to crime to source money for the production of his maiden album.
According to the 28-year-old, who confessed to having been among those who carried out a robbery operation at the private residence in Atan-Ota, said the proposed album was scheduled for launch on July 24.
“I am a gospel musician. I needed money to enable me to produce my maiden album and I got involved in robbery to raise money for the project. In fact, I had picked a date of July 24 to release the album to the public after the production,” he said.
The suspect, who was arrested with two of his accomplices, identified as Tunde Joseph and Ganiu Ajibode, said he regretted his action after spending over two months in detention.
“I hope I can still be forgiven by the police and God over my action. It was in a bid to make headway in my musical career that I took to robbery,” he stated.

Total blackout aiding Badoo attacks in our town- Ikorodou women tell PHCN

Women in Ikorodu town in Lagos state, yesterday staged a peaceful protest to PHCN office in Igbogbo Ikorodu, were they called on the PHCN officials to give them electricity as the total darkness they have experienced for some months, have helped Badoo members carry out their various attacks.

The protesting women drawn from Anibaba street in Ikorodu, said if their town had constant supply of power, the rate of crime committed by these notorious cult group members would be drastically reduced if not eradicated.
According to the leader of the protesting women, Mrs. Idayat Muritala, erratic power supply in the town has continuously aided the Badoo Cult group. She narrated how two suspected Badoo gang escaped through a bush overnight due to total blackout the community was left.

A traditional leader in the community, Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, heard of the protest and called on the women to come to his palace for a meeting with himself and some PHCN officials.

However, none of the PHCN workers reportedly honored the invitation. The monarch appealed to the protesting women to remain calm, assuring them that he will have a meeting with the PHCN officials. The monarch called on the women to warn their husbands, children and family members residing in the town to stop keeping late night. He frowned at the increasing rate of jungle justice in the town.
