Edo Monarch Drags Oshiomhole to Court after He was Suspended for Allegedly Assaulting a Lady

The Royal Father of Uromi Kingdom in Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State, Anslem Eidenojie II has dragged the state government and 11 others over his suspension by Governor Adams Oshiomhole.

Eidenojie filed the suit at the Federal High Court in Benin City. The respondents include Gov. Oshiomhole, the state Commissioner of Police in the state, Haliru Gwandu, Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 5, the Inspector General of Police, the Nigeria Police Force, Betty Okoebor, Matthew Okoebor and members of the state executive council.

Oshiomhole had earlier suspended the monarch for seven days for allegedly assaulting Betty Okoebor during the September 28 governorship election in Esan North-East Local Government Area. The government had directed him to apologise to the woman within the period of the seven-day suspension or risk dethronement.

However, the state government extended the suspension to one year in a statement  signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere on November 4.

It also stripped the monarch of all his privileges and rights as a royal father. It said that Eidenojie’s remuneration from the 5% monthly allocation to the local government shall be appropriated and donated to orphanages during the period.

Counsel to Eidenojie, Benjamin Iluobe is asking the court for general, aggravated and exemplary damages of N1 billion against the respondents jointly as a reparation for the assault, torture, arrest, detention and harassment against him in the course of their acts.

be also said that his client wants the court to declare that Oshiomhole’s action was unconstitutional, unlawful and without a just cause, adding that it amounted to recklessness and abuse of office,
.
He also prayed the court for an injunction restraining the defendants by themselves, agents, servants and or privies or such other persons from oppressing him or imposing any inhibition or restrictions on his freedom of movement or agents and family in respect of this complaint.

The suspended monarch also wants the court to order the respondents to tender public apology to him in respect of the complaint.

101-Year-Old Woman Says She Would Pack Her Bags out of the U.S. if Trump Wins

Thelma Feastra after voting for Clinton

A 101-year-old African-American, Thelma Feastra, said she would pack her bags and leave the U.S. should Republican nominee Donald Trump be elected president on Tuesday.

“I want to get the best people out there to take care of the citizens; so I voted Hillary. I am hoping the election will be alright.

“However, if Trump wins, I guess I will just pack my bags and leave the U.S.,” the centenarian told a correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the Hampton Voter Registrar, the State of Virginia, after casting her vote.

Feastra, a curbside voter, said she was motivated to vote so as to be a part of those who decided who becomes the president of the U.S.

A curbside voter is any qualified voter who is able to travel to the voting place, but because of age, or physical disability is unable to enter the voting place in person without physical assistance.

The person may vote either in the vehicle or in the immediate proximity of the voting place.

According to her, not being involved could have a consequence on who emerges the president.

“If you don’t vote, you just can’t complain, you just take what you get,” the physically-challenged Clinton supporter, Feastra said.

Also speaking, Feaster’s daughter, Cassandra Williams, who drove her mother to the voting centre, said she had heard complaints about both presidential candidates.

She, however, said that the grievances should not keep people from voting.

“There’s no good choice between Clinton and Trump but there’s a worse choice. This year, you just have bad candidates but one of them will still become the president even if you don’t vote.
“Still, you have a responsibility to come out and vote and get someone who will make our country greater because the country is already great.”
Williams said she was motivated to vote because she marched for the right to vote in the 1960s adding, she was arrested but did not regret the experience.
“It was just something I had to do,” she said.

“No one’s life is worth your life sentence” – Ali Baba shares a Friend’s Experience where Uncontrollable Anger landed him in Jail

Comedian Ali Baba shared a very important life lesson for his followers to learn from. He spoke about how having uncontrollable anger can cause dire consequences.

Read his post below.

This story I am about to share, you would have heard, told several times, in different ways. But mine is not a story. A friend of ours, a lawyer, in Abuja, was at a 5 day retreat and decided to dash back home to get something that couldn’t wait. And meets his madam in an uncompromising position. And just as he and the lover boy got into a fight, lover boy broke free, ran for the door to the balcony, opened it and jumped for his dear life, when he heard madam say don’t shoot him, shoot me instead. And he jumped to his conclusion. He hit his skull against something and died instantly. The case took like a year and our guy was jailed. The wife was held responsible for the whole tragedy. She tried to make people see how sorry she was, and even tried to say there was no more love between them… but the deed was done. No one cared. Now pause for a minute. Agreed the man had a right to get angry. Agreed the lover boy was wrong to go to a matrimonial home. Agreed he should not have gone for his gun. What if he had recorded it and told her to move out? Would he be an ex convict today? Guess what? The woman is living her life now and the only thing is she is adulterous. Not an ex convict. She can still run for elections. Remarry. And hey! She DID remarry. She tried to see him in prison but after she realized the futility, because the family banned her from even coming near her son, she gave up, relocated and started a new life abroad. The lesson in this is, #MaaSheyBooSheTo! Don’t let your emotions make you use all your power and connections to deal with an issue that will be an overkill. Control your anger. Avoid people who work you up. Think twice. If you can not stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen. If you can not do the time don’t do the crime… let us learn to control our emotions and anger. You don’t want to know what the consequences of road rage have amounted to in surveys. No ones life is worth your life sentence. Think fast. Think twice. Think well.

Bribery Allegation: Group drags Buhari to court, insists Ameachi, Onu must be investigated and sacked

A Non-Governmental Organisation known as Incorporated Trustees of Kingdom Human Rights Foundation International yesterday filed a suit at the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, asking the court to issue an order of mandamus compelling President Buhari to immediately sack Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi and his counterpart in Science & Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu.

According to the group, the sack of both Ministers is important after two Supreme Court judges, Inyang Okoro and Nwali Sylvester Ngwuta, who are currently being investigated for corruption, accused both men of offering them bribe some years ago, Vanguard reports.

In a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/857/2016, the group also asked the court to compel the Department of State Security Service, DSS, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to investigate the allegations of bribery. Cited as 1st to 5th Defendants in the suit were Amaechi, Onu, the DSS, EFCC and President Buhari, respectively.

Specifically, the group through their lawyer, Okere Nnamdi, asked the court to determine

“Whether or not the allegation made by two Justices of the Supreme Court namely Inyang Okoro and Nwali Sylvester Ngwuta in connection with the criminal-like invasion of their houses by agents of the State Security Service on alleged allegation of corruption, which matter is already in public domain should be investigated and those accused arrested and prosecuted by the 3rd and 4th Defendants.

Whether or not the allegation made by two Justices of the Supreme Court namely Inyang Okoro and Nwali Sylvester Ngwuta in connection with the criminal-like invasion of their houses by agents of the State Security Service on alleged allegation of corruption, which matter is already in public domain, is a reasonable ground to warrant the 5th Defendant who is the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and who claims that his administration is fighting corruption, to sack or compel the 1st and 2nd defendants to resign from office as Ministers, pending when they are cleared of every allegation of corruption

Whether or not the 3rd, 4th and 5th Defendants have failed to perform their constitutional and statutory mandates by failing to: (a) for the 3rd and 4th defendants to commence investigation, arrest and prosecute the 1st and 2nd defendants in this suit based on the allegation by two Justices of the Supreme Court, namely Inyang Okoro and Nwali Sylvester Ngwuta; and (b) for the 5th defendant by refusing to sack the 1st and 2nd defendants as Ministers pending when they are cleared of every allegation of corruption”.

Upon determination of these questions, the group wants a declaration that the allegations made against Ameachi and Onu are “grievous enough to warrant their arrest, investigation and prosecution by the 3rd and 4th defendants.

A declaration of the court that allegations against the Ministers are grievous enough to warrant their removal from office without any further delay by the 5th Defendant (President Buhari) who was also accused to have sent the 1st defendant (Amaechi) on the mission to ensure that the All Progressives Congress, APC, wins all their governorship election cases at all costs and by all means.

A declaration that the allegation made against the 1st and 2nd defendants by the two Justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria as deposed in the affidavit in support of this application, and the refusal of the 5th defendant to sack the 1st and 2nd defendants are grievous enough to conclude that the 5th defendant’s fight against corruption is window-dressing, witch-hunt, selective, high handed, vindictive, malicious and prosecuted with gross disregard to the rule of law.

An order of mandamus compelling the 3rd and 4th defendants (DSS and EFCC) to immediately and without further delay whatsoever, arrest, investigate and prosecute the 1st and 2nd defendants in this suit, based on the allegations of corruption and attempt to induce or bribe the Justices of the Supreme Court, in other to influence/induce them to subvert the cause of justice. As well as, “An order of mandamus compelling the 5th defendant to immediately and without any further delay whatsoever sack or cause the 1st and 2nd defendants to resign from offices as Minister of Transport and Minister of Science and Technology (respectively) without any further delay on the ground of public interest, public morality and to unable the 3rd and 4th defendants speedily carry out their statutory responsibility of arresting and prosecuting the 1st and 2nd defendants, based on the allegations of Hon. Justice Nwali Sylvester Ngwuta and Hon. Justice Inyang Okoro”.

No date has been fixed for hearing of the case.

No plans to increase pump price of petrol' - NNPC

Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Muhammad Garba-Deen has denied reports that the corporation or the federal government is planning to increase fuel price above the current N145. He said this while reacting to reports earlier today quoting the Group General Manager, Crude Oil Marketing Department of the Corporation, Mele Kyari‎ saying that the 145 naira per litre is not sustainable.

Garba-Deen who spoke to Channels TV, said Kyari's statement was not taken in the right context.

"If there is going to be anything like that, the agency responsible for fixing the price of petrol, the PPPRA, will definitely sensitize Nigerians and give reasons why. As of this moment there is absolutely no plan to do that and there is no need to do it because we have more than enough supply. We have a very robust stock of products. In addition to that we also have long term procurement contracts with our suppliers. So, the major reasons that will necessitate any review of price at the moment have been well taken care of.”‎he said.
