Belois Couture presents its Fall 2017 Collection Inspired by School Teachers and Their Dainty Dresses

Belois Couture, a two-time Lagos Fashion and Design Week alumni who first showed at the Pan-African fashion week as a British Council X LFDW Fashion Focus finalist. Since then, the brand has gone on to position itself as a burgeoning contemporary womenswear brand that continues to shift the paradigm of how contemporary African women dress. Additionally, Belois couture was bestowed with the honor of opening this season’s Spring/Summer 2016 Lagos Fashion and Design Week to a critical press success.

For Fall 2017, Omon Isinugben – Designer at Belois was majorly inspired by her childhood days in primary school and some of her teachers who she remembers as having had a stately elegance about them. “They wore the most dainty shift dresses, yet they were able to inform my childhood and command respect from me” she says.

To this regard, Omon Isinugben re-imagines what primary school teachers dressed like back-in-the-day with a modern twist for her next season woman. The collection is characterized by satin, chiffon, crepe and organza in clean lines, earth and warm tones with a lot of pleating and layering as well as flares and volume for exaggerated silhouettes.
